Year Two

With the success of the new Extend Early Curriculum in Year 1 last year, we are now in a trial year for year 2. 

We are building upon the foundational knowledge and skills taught in year 1 to deepen knowledge in year 2. 

In year 2 we are striking the balance between exploratory, hands on learning and direct and explicit teaching. We need to ensure pupils are prepared for KS2 in both learning behaviours, stamina, knowledge and skills. However we understand KS1 is an important stage in a child's learning in it's own rite. 

Through carefully sequenced learning experiences, children are encouraged to focus their attention, strengthen their working memory, and develop cognitive flexibility. These skills are not only crucial for academic success but also for navigating the complexities of everyday life.

At the start of each term a curriculum map is sent out detailing the learning taking place during the term.
