Our Friday afternoon clubs provide all children with additional enrichment opportunities, removing barriers that may prevent disadvantaged groups from accessing enrichment provision beyond the school day. Clubs run for 4-6 weeks 3 times a year and each session is approximately 45 minutes long. Children in EYFS and KS1 can choose from a selection of clubs as can KS2 classes. All Friday Clubs run within the school day, are completely free of charge and are attended by all children.
Each term, the children are told about the clubs that will be running that term. Teachers and support staff are involved with running these as well as external providers for sports. The selection of clubs on offer to the children can change throughout the year but there are normally some fixed favourites which return every term alongside some completely new options. Children can sign up to a club of their choice every term and are encouraged to try something different.
Some of our current and more recent clubs include: art, engineering, gardening, forest school, science, sports, drama and crafts.
Feedback from children has been extremely positive since we introduced these clubs. Children are motivated and engaged by the idea of their Friday club time and especially enjoy working alongside children from other classes and year groups.
